FAFS: The Future
For the last 35 years, Foster and Adoptive Family Services (FAFS) has shown a profound dedication to providing foster, adoptive, and kinship families with crucial services as well as a voice in New Jersey’s foster care and adoption system.
As FAFS moves forward, these services will unquestionably continue. The only difference is that FAFS has found a way to further expand the financial support for many of its privately-funded programs and services.
The agency has officially formed a foundation that appropriately will be known as the Foster and Adoptive Family Services Foundation. It will be a separate entity from the original organization. Thanks to the work of Janet Farrand, Foundation president, and Pro Bono Partnership, which specializes in free legal services for nonprofits, the Foundation has achieved 501(c)(3) status as a nonprofit organization.
“(The Foundation Board) will strictly be involved with providing financial support to FAFS to help us further meet our mission.”
The extra funds will go towards FAFS programs such as: Fostering Wishes for Children, camp scholarships, private scholarships, independent-living grants, Backpack Program, A Gift for Every Child, and Bedtime for Children in Care.
As the Foundation begins to aid FAFS, the agency will continue to strongly advocate for New Jersey’s resource families.
