Fostering Wishes for Children

Fostering Wishes for Children is a mini-grant program designed to provide children in foster care with a few of the little things that can help improve their quality of life. Childhood should be a carefree, happy time, but for children in foster care this is often not the case. These children are burdened with painful memories and feelings of loss and betrayal. Depression and low self-esteem factor heavily into their lives. Fostering Wishes for Children grants allow these children to take advantage of opportunities that boost self-esteem, enrich their lives, and promote feelings of belonging.
State funds, distributed to foster parents as board rates, cover many of the expenses of caring for the children placed in their homes. But the costs involved in caring for children with unique needs add up quickly. These board rates are rapidly absorbed, and there are rarely funds left over to cover the little extras or discretionary activities that all children deserve. Fostering Wishes serves to give these kids just a little more. The program is designed to grant modest wishes or help subsidize a larger wish for children in foster care. Fostering Wishes grants are limited to $75 a year to ensure that we are able to grant as many wishes as possible.
Examples of the kinds of wishes granted through Fostering Wishes for Children are dance and swim lessons, developmental toys, sports registration fees, class pictures, contact lenses and so much more.
Enrich the life of a child in care today by donating towards a Fostering Wishes for Children grant.
The Foster and Adoptive Family Services Foundation is a 501(c)(3)charitable organization and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
